One Year Apprenticeship in Shamanism ~ 2025

This is a transformative training to gain knowledge and skill in the ancient practices of Shamanism.
Modules will be an immersive experience in Classic Shamanic methods, ceremonies, and initiations.
Creative expression, drumming, and profound self-inquiry are incorporated in this deep dive.
An initial meeting will be arranged once you're accepted to the program. This will be considered the start of your apprenticeship. At that time, the modules/trainings will be scheduled for the year.

Good candidates for this program are those with a calling and commitment to create an active, embodied experience of their spirituality and their relationship to the non-ordinary Spirit realms. This will be a cohesive group of devoted participants for the duration of the program.
Comfort with deep self-exploration and healthy sense of self-awareness and self-responsibility, are also key. (Applicants must be fully vaccinated). Prerequisites: - Have received two sessions of counseling and/or Shamanic services from BJ Brown. This prerequisite is waived for those who have already received two sessions. ~ All 6 trainings, one of which is away at a retreat setting, food and lodging not included. ~ 5 Journey Circles of your choosing over the year (offered 3rd Sunday of every month). ~ 2 private, in person sessions with BJ. ~ 2 (of 4) Ceremonies celebrating Equinox/Solstice. ~ Case studies - 5 practice cases with written assignments between modules. ~ Personal responsibility for contributing to the community and nourishing strong connections within the circle, within themselves, and in their deepening bonds with Helping Spirits and Power Animals in non-ordinary reality. ~ Journey Theater - One will be offered for "extra credit." Not included in tuition. Death, Dying and Beyond - We will share responsibility in providing, preparing, serving and clean-up of meals. Lodging and meals are not included in the tuition. Detailed descriptions of Soul Retrieval Training, Journey Theater, Journey Circles, and Ceremonies, etc. provided at the beginning of the program. Descriptions also available on Events page of this website. Timing: Dates for Modules will be finalized at an initial meeting, once accepted. Module One ~ Opening Circle Overview of Training, Beginning Shamanism Module Two - Power of Ceremony; Advanced Divination Methods Module Three - Shamanic Extraction Module Four - Soul Retrieval Training Module Five - Death, Dying and Beyond (Away Retreat - Lodging and meals are not included). The retreat will take place at the Y in Estes Park or similar. Module Six - Living this Way and Closing Ceremony Tuition: $2575.00. There is a $300.00 non-refundable deposit is due with application and will be applied to your full tuition. Monthly or quarterly payment plan can be arranged. Tuition Discount: $2450.00 if paid in full at the time of acceptance into the program. What’s considered in determining the program tuition? Preparation of program materials, training manual, private sessions, review of individual course work and case studies, art and other program supplies, preparation for classes and ceremonies, and teaching of all modules, and all items listed in the Apprentice Commitments. The two prerequisite sessions are not included in the tuitions Location: The training is at BJ’s home/office. Her space is at a convenient Boulder location. Address and directions will be given at time of registration. Lodging will be at the expense of participants traveling from outside the Denver/Boulder area. One in house guest suite with bathroom is available for participants (sleeps 3) at $75 per night on a first come, first serve basis. |
Certificate of Completion ~ Apprentices will receive a certificate acknowledging completion of 125 hours of training in shamanism and shamanic methods. This is a symbol of your accomplishment, deepened understanding and refined skills in the practice of shamanic methods. (This is not a "certification in Shamanism”).
How to Register: Please request packet of information which includes a letter of application. The commitment form, and non-refundable deposits are due with the application, describe yourself, background, and what called you to this program. What initiations have you gone through? (e.g. great loss, illness, near death, addiction/recovery, etc.). Please include any information regarding shamanic trainings and teachers you’ve experienced. If accepted, a welcome letter will be emailed to you with more information for what to bring, location and other details.
